The title represents a great new expression I found. Check this out.

Quote:
Every day, about a quarter million people join us on planet Earth.

What is surprising is the fact that many people think we can solve this problem by conserving resources, recycling and so forth. Conservation programs are worthwhile and should be pursued, but they only treat the symptoms of the disease. Addressing resource issues without also confronting the population explosion is what I call "placebo environmentalism."

Speaking of placebo environmentalism I had some weirdo on another forum tell me that since the population was only growing 400 million every 5 years from 1975 to 2010 that we had nothing to worry about since the numbers did not increase according to his notion of exponential growth. Then he produced a video assuring folks that we would level out at 11 billion, say around 2100.

It's not just that these folks are idiots but they have a kind of demented self-righteousness as they celebrate trends that are assuring our extinction. And you can be sure that they don't support groups like Planned Parenthood that help make the too little too late downward trend in population growth even possible.

It's time for these folks to go live in a rabbit hutch like this
. This is normal housing in denialist world. We're not even talking ballooning refugee camps or expanding favelas.

A charming view from the inside.
