This is not a happy topic and must be approached carefully. In addressing the matter of overpopulation I don't think it is out of line to consider the number of people who would prefer to die rather than go on living. During the last two years of her life my mother was one. As long as it is a personal decision and not government mandated I don't see why their wishes shouldn't be respected. A lot of the problem appears to be semantic. We talk about "saving somebody's life" rather than postponing their death. Seen clearly we all have one death coming or to put it more dramatically we are all sentenced to the gallows so to speak.

Would you rather have some control over the time and place and means of that final crossover or would you rather have natural forces outside your control make that final determination? It's an easy choice for me.
